Ahmet was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1969. He moved to the US in 1987 to pursue his college degree. In 1992 he started managing money professionally. His audited track record for the period 1992-1997 is nearly 145% per year with no down years.

He set up his first hedge fund, Okumus Opportunity Fund, in 1997. This fund has compounded at nearly 35% net per year since inception. None of the funds managed by Okumus Capital have experienced a down year in their history.

His talent has been recognized by financial media and he was featured as one of America’s top stock investors in Jack Schwager’s book “Stock Market Wizards”. 100% of Ahmet’s net worth is invested in the funds managed by the firm. He is the largest investor in the funds and his investment represents approximately 25% of the firm assets which is in excess of $500M.
