Back in the 90s, when the AIDs outbreak was at an all-time high, a popular movement was started to end the discrimination faced by the victims of sexually transmitted diseases.. This led to people being aware of the diseases, including how to combat it, and how to avoid it, which led to the rate of people contracting the terrible disease falling initially.
However, once again people are failing to practice safe sex, which has led to an increase in these diseases once again. Insider Monkey's article 11 states with the highest STD rates in America aims to name the states which have been greatly negligent in ensuring that the outbreak of such diseases decreases, and aims to bring the important of STD awareness back to the forefront. Sexually transmitted diseases are not just dangerous, they are costly as well, and it is estimated that the cost of STDs is around $16 billion a year. Young people are not really known for their patience or precaution and in this case, the stereotype apparently seems true."
