GPS stands for the “Global Positioning System”, a navigation system that is made by a network of 30 satellites. Like many other great technologies, GPS exist thanks to the United States military. In the ’60s and 70’s the U.S. military started working on the satellite navigation systems, eventually developing GPS. But how does GPS work? Well, the satellites that are part of the global positioning system have a precise orbit and circle the planet twice a day. Each satellite sends a unique signal including orbital parameters which are then picked up by a GPS device. The device uses signals from multiple satellites and calculates the exact location of GPS receiver. It’s really an awesome invention, isn’t it? As for me, I like using GPS but I still tend to use map, because I think GPS makes me lazy to learn the addresses and I can forget how I got the place where I went. Insidermonkey experts published a very important article about the easiest GPS Devices to use for hunting and fishing.
Well, this activity is a hobby where GPS is absolutely important and useful. For now we have picked one GPS device from Insider Monkey’s list. This device is Garmin Oregon 600. It got 3.9 rating on Amazon, and its price is $193.47. Oregon 600 is regarded as one of the best touchscreen GPS devices you can get. The display doesn’t have problems with the sunlight and it is multi-touch. Other features include a long battery life, speed, and most importantly, simple interface that will be easy to understand if you didn’t have previous encounters with GPS devices. This device seems to be an excellent one, an although I don’t go fishing or hunting I may check it. Who knows? Perhaps I will buy one. It could be handy when I go hiking with my dogs to the mountains, because I generally do. If feel interested you can also check out our list of 10 Easiest Countries to Buy a Gun in the World.
