Longest Prison Sentences

Everyone is afraid of spending the night in jail. That is one of the worst experiences someone could go through in their life. Many people that have already experienced that, never forget  their dreadful time in jail and hope to never go through that again. Imagine how people with some of the  longest prison sentences  feel about spending their lifetime in prison. We all know that to get a long prison sentence, you have to be convicted of a serious crime. It doesn’t necessarily have to be one crime.
If a person is convicted of committing more than one crime, he or she is usually given a sentence for each crime.  The judge or the magistrate tells that particular person what type of sentence he or she gets  and how it must be served. There are concurrent sentences, which are served at the same time, and consecutive sentences, that are served one after another. Like, for example, a six-month sentence that is followed by a three-month sentence. Also, a person can be sentenced for life, depending on how serious the crimes he or she committed are.

Besides, there are many cases in the legal history, where the perpetrator of the law receives a sentence that is much longer than a life sentence. Yet, a sentence that is longer than a person’s lifespan is not viable from a practical point of view.  However, the longest prison sentences are always the most interesting for  people. Starting from the crimes the criminal has committed to the reasons he or she has had, to do such terrible things.
