Largest Bodies of Water

The Earth is often called the “blue planet” because 70% of the planet’s surface is covered with water.
A body of water, or also called a water body, is the part of the planet’s surface that is covered with water. This term most often refers to a vast water accumulation, such as the oceans, the seas and the lakes;  but, also smaller water pools can refer to this term as well.
The largest bodies of water cover most of the water’s surface on Earth. As it’s previously mentioned, the term large water body applies to the seas, oceans, rivers and even lakes. The rivers have a large volume of water, and they flow into other bodies of waters, such as the lakes. The lakes are only surrounded by land, which means that they do not usually flow into another water body. The sea is surrounded by land as well, but it is also connected to another water body. Seas are attached to oceans. The oceans are the largest bodies of water; they are also the oldest. The oceans are thought to have no boundaries. The oldest and the largest ocean on the planet is the Pacific Ocean.

The smallest water body is the brook. That is a natural stream of water, and it’s usually found aboveground. Though the streams can also flow underground, or they can even flow into another water body. A brook generally flows into a bigger body of water, such as a river. Other small pools of waters are the ponds, wetlands, and even sometimes puddles.
