7 Biggest HBO Flops Of All Time

With the announcement that, oops, Vinyl won’t be getting a second season after all, HBO has done that thing they so rarely do: pull the plug on a show after only one year. To be one-and-done at HBO is a lot bigger deal than just getting quietly cancelled after a year on CBS. Insidermonkey experts made a list of 7 biggest HBO flops of all time.

But surely there are other aspects we’ve learned throughout the years from various flops that prove there are some common threads among the biggest blockbuster failures. For example, a movie set entirely on the ocean? A big gamble for a small payoff. Kevin Costner in a starring role? It was once a boon, but after Waterworld Costner became a problematic movie star. A mixed tone that combined the ridiculously serious with hokey comic elements amid a larger theme that warned about the perilous aftermath of climate change? That was probably it, to be honest. 15 Least Successful Presidents of All Time

The following is a ranking of the 15 least successful presidents of all time made by Insidermonkey experts. It is based off what the Presidents did while in office, in terms of policy, decision making, and legacy. This does not include the overall lifetime achievements of each person on these lists. The time period was also taken into account (Franklin Pierce supported slavery, that makes him much worse on a moral level by our standards today than Jimmy Carter, who is ranked as “worse” than him). We looked at the morality/practicality of the Presidents’ positions through the national zeitgeist at the time in question. However, this does not mean that we can’t judge the long term consequences of their choices, as we do below. You can also read our list of the most successful presidents of all time.

Eighties holdovers U2 and R.E.M. reaching creative peaks with Achtung Baby and Automatic for the People, Metallica and the Black Crowes co-existing on MTV, Phish tending to the Deadhead nation after Jerry's passing — and Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer ceding their pop thrones in a few short years to Dr. Dre, Snoop and Eminem. In the United States it is rare for third party and independent candidates, other than those of the six parties which have succeeded as major parties, to take large shares of the vote in elections. Sea level rise is caused by thermal expansion (when water warms up, it rises), melting glaciers and polar ice caps, and ice loss from Greenland and West Antarctica—all of which are caused by climate change, according to National Geographic. 10 Strongest Countries with Compulsory Military Service

Military service is service by an individual or group in an army or other militia, whether as a chosen job or as a result of an involuntary draft (conscription). Some nations (e.g., Mexico) require a specific amount of military service from every citizen (except for special cases, such as physical or mental disorders or religious beliefs, and most countries that have conscription only conscript men). A nation with a fully volunteer military does not normally require mandatory military service from its citizens, unless it is faced with a recruitment crisis during a time of war. Insidermonkey experts made a list of these 10 strongest countries with compulsory military service.

Some countries do not practice active conscription but have a mandatory selective service system that certain age groups must register for so conscription can be implemented if necessary. Countries with a system like this include Bermuda and the United States. Some countries have mandatory conscription for all men of a certain age but allow for more flexible terms of service if men volunteer instead. Men 18 years and older in Mexico are required to serve a year in the army if conscripted and can only serve in the Air Force or Navy if they volunteer.
